If the COVID-19 pandemic has changed up or cancelled your vacation plans (like they have for us), then you are probably still dreaming of your next destination… I know we’ve been trying to stay positive and think about where we want to go when it is safe to travel again! If you love to visit places that have it all, like a charming countryside with a mix of vibrant city life, then the Netherlands is a great place to visit. I mean really, no matter what you may be looking for in travel — the Netherlands is a great place to visit!

The Netherlands offers a fantastic range of places to go and things to see and do. Here is a little inspiration for some of the best things to do on your visit:

Explore the Netherlands by Bike!

If you love to be active and spending time outside, then cycling holidays Netherlands are the perfect choice for you. What’s more dutch than traveling by bike!? The Netherlands is famous for its cycling, and is literally home to more bicycles than people! Since the Netherlands is a primarily flat country, cycling is the perfect way to explore this beautiful place with ease.

See the Windmills at Kinderdijk

The village of Kinderdijk is a really unique place to see on your trip to the Netherlands. Kinderdijk is famous for its 19 windmills and is a fascinating place to explore. Kinderdijk is a UNESCO World Heritage Site complete with a museum and audio tours to help you discover more about this historic area. This is something that not everybody gets to experience, so it makes a great addition to any trip to provide a unique and historic activity.

Enjoy the Natural Beauty of Keukenhof

Keukenhof is the largest public garden in the world and an excellent place to see some examples of one of the Netherlands' finest exports; tulips. This beautiful garden has attracted visitors from all over the world for more than 70 years. During your visit, why not wander around the gardens and explore the scenery, before grabbing something to eat at one of Keukenhof’s restaurants! Not to mention, Keukenhof provides some of the best opportunities for great Instagram photos!

Visit the Van Gogh Museum

Amsterdam is a vibrant city with so much to offer visitors. It is one of the quintessential European cities that can’t be missed on any backpacking trip. Amsterdam has our hearts and is one of my favorite cities in the world. Here you can immerse yourself in the city’s stunning architecture, wander alongside the famous canals, enjoy the delicious food including famous stroopwaffle, and visit a wide choice of museums and galleries, including the Anne Frank Museum and Van Gogh Museum.

Escape to Efteling

Efteling World of Wonders is the largest theme park in the Netherlands and is well worth a visit. Efteling is a charming place to visit and has an enchanted, fairytale theme. The theme park offers everything from adrenaline-filled rides to whimsical shows. Take a walk through the Fairytale Forest and see popular fairytales brought to life including Hansel and Gretel, Pinocchio, and Tom Thumb.

There’s so much to see and do in the Netherlands, the biggest decision that you will need to make is which areas you’d like to explore first! With being extremely accessible by train throughout the country, it isn’t difficult to get around.
